Excessive worrying can lead to anxiety, stress, and even physical or mental health issues. When you're in a constant state of worry, it consumes a lot of energy. Worrying too much will most likely cause a dip in your productivity and enjoyment of life in general. As humans, we're not wired to stay in worry mode. It's a stress response system that is meant to help you avoid dangerous situations. So if you find yourself worrying often when there is no danger involved, most likely there's a deeper root of that worry from a past traumatic experience or a stressful childhood. The good thing about that is, since it is a learned mindset, you have the power to shift it.
3 Ways To Practice Worrying Less:
Practice mindfulness meditation to help you stay present and calm. There are tons of really helpful guided meditations out there. I recommend trying out a few and finding one that you enjoy to add into your daily practice. Our minds are wired believe things the more that we hear it. That's why listening to these affirmations on repeat (Link Below) can help to re-train your brain to think more positively and worry less.
Keep a worry journal to track your worries and identify patterns. It's helpful to track your worries so that you can find the root cause of that particular thought loop and begin your healing journey. If you notice that you tend to worry about one type of scenario more often than not, then it gives you something to reflect on. Why do you think this type of situation worries you so much? Do you think it's important to think about this situation in this way? Is there possibly another way to look at the situation where you wont be so worried about it? Have you tried sending some positive thoughts and energy towards a better outcome? It's okay to be prepared for the worst, while hoping for the best.
Seek support from friends, family, or a mental health professional if needed. You know the old saying "it takes a village..."? It's true. Sure you can be independent, but it's important to have a supportive, loving tribe to help you through sometimes. Be sure when choosing these people that you feel good when you're around them. Check your energy when talking to them, are they adding fuel to the flames? Or are they there to help you move through it and feel better?
