Frank McCourt was an Irish-American writer born on August 19, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, and passed away on July 19, 2009. He is best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir, "Angela's Ashes" (1996), which recounts his impoverished childhood in Limerick, Ireland. McCourt's memoir vividly portrays the harsh realities of poverty, his family's struggles, and his own coming-of-age experiences. The book became an international bestseller and was adapted into a successful film.
