Mainstream Western media and education have largely dismissed the successes and challenges of the Asian community, often portraying Asian individuals as “obedient” and “naturally intelligent” (amongst other stereotypes). These characteristics that reflect the model minority stereotype often pressure Asian individuals to meet these cultural expectations. Breaking Barriers by AsianVisiON strives to break down the barriers these expectations have built and foster a supportive environment for Asian individuals by raising awareness about the challenges that people of the majority may not need to face. In each episode, you will hear the unique stories of Asian leaders in various industries.
