Wei Wuxian is taken into the lan clan against his will. The more he interacts with Lan Wangji the more he realizes he doesn’t know him at all! He finds secret alcohol hidden in Lan Wangji’s personal rooms, and sees that there are scars from the discipline whip all across his back. Wei Wuxian still wants to leave, so he acts more crazy and shameless to try and get kicked out. But Lan Wangji accepts his shamelessness and doesn't let him go. Then we enter a flashback as Wei Wuxian thinks back on how he met Lan Wangji as a teenager, and how different he is now compared to back then. He and his peers are visiting cloud recesses for lessons. On his first night, Wei Wuxian gets caught breaking the rules and fights Lan Wangji. Then the next day he causes trouble in class and gets kicked out by Lan Qiren.
