Jin Guangyao tries to lead Lan Xichen towards Nie Mingjue so that they can all die together, but at the last minute saves Lan Xichen and pushes him out of the way before he’s killed. Jiang Cheng gives Wei Wuxian Chengqing, which he uses with Lan Wangji’s guqin to re-seal Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao into the coffin. Wei Wuxian suspects Nie Huaisang of planning the whole thing, even down to convincing MXY to summon Wei Wuxian back to life as revenge. Fairy returns to the temple with Jiang and Lan reinforcements. JL reflects on how Jin Guangyao was the only kind person in his life and doesn't know how to feel now that he’s gone and hated. Later, after Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji run away together, LSZ catches up to them to reveal that he is Wen Yuan. He and WN decide to go to Qishan to bury their family’s ashes.
