Wei Wuxian travels to Mount Dafan in search of evil spirits to control, and finds himself in the middle of a giant nighhunt, where cultivators are trying to solve the mystery of a soul eating spirit. He runs into a Jin teenager, and insults him, but he turns out to be his nephew Jin Ling. Jiang Cheng, Lan Wangji, and the Lan Juniors also appear. Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji get into an almost-fight over the golden nets, but Jiang Cheng decides to reign in his temper for politics.
