Hua Cheng confronts Qi Rong and it is revealed that Qi Rong is actually Xie Lian’s cousin, and that Qi Rong and Prince An Le are the true culprits behind the gilded banquet that massacred all the Yong An royals. Lang QianQiu falls into despair after learning the truth, having been betrayed by his best friend, and lied to by his guoshi. Xie Lian is devastated because he wanted to take the blame and keep Lang QianQiu innocent and optimistic. Lang QianQiu tortures and kills Qi Rong, but it turns out it was only a clone, so Lang QianQiu vows to find and kill him.
