Listen "Black History Has Its Eye on You"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode we talk Black History Month.
It’s February, the shortest and also one of the coldest months of year which can only mean one thing, Black History month is upon us once more. In the past we have not been timid about our feelings and views on Black History month, so, this episode we are detailing our thoughts, reservations, and hopes for Black history. This will also be our first episode where we implement our first Toolkit topic. Make sure you listen to the bonus episode to be up to speed or check out our Instagram. In this episode we discuss:
The problem with compartmentalizing Black History to a singular month
The impact of separating Black History from American (and world) history
The separation between other “non-white” history and Black history
Black History vs Black Future
Being mixed during Black History Month – Dameca shares her thoughts and experience
Reflections on “The Gates of Freedom Here?” by Angela Davis
Does true integration of “non-white” history mean the erasure of “white history”?
This week on Dani and Dameca Get Mad At The World, we stay on topic and share some of the cringy ways teachers choose to celebrate Black History month.
Ending our episode is our Happy Place, * hint – they are both hot, steamy, and involve the return of one of the show’s favorite topics.
