Listen "Day 38 - Read John 1"
Episode Synopsis
Matthew, Mark, and Luke are considered to be synoptic (summary) gospels. They are similar in their stories and order. John is different in that it does not provide teachings in parables, it provides some additional stories, and it does not include some stories in the other gospels. John provides additional understanding of God and the life of Jesus. Chapter one began with John recognizing Jesus as God, the Word, the light, the Messiah, and man born of God, not of man or by the will of man. John was sent to prepare the way for Jesus, fulfilling prophecy. John pointed men toward Jesus as the Messiah.
