Episode Synopsis

Send us a textOn Tuesday of the week of Jesus' crucifixion he was asked a number of questions by the religious authorities and parties. Their purpose was to drive a wedge between the people and Jesus.  Luke tells us "he was teaching daily in the temple. The chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words." Luke 19:47-48So one after another group came to him with questions. The first question was about his authority. The second was a political-theological question on taxes. Now some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up and questioned him. They related a story of 7 brothers who in succession married the same woman in fulfillment of a law concerning the necessity of a family heir. "In the resurrection who will have her as wife?" They were asking a foolish question to make fun of the doctrine of the resurrection from the dead (see Mark 12:18ff). We can learn much from Jesus' reply to these religious unbelievers about God, death and the life to come following the resurrection of the dead.Bible Insights with Wayne ConradContact: 8441 Hunnicut Rd Dallas, Texas 75228email: Att.
