The book of Ephesians is full of reminders that God has given us an everyday helper. And not just any everyday helper, but one who will infuse us with supernatural power to complete natural things if we let him. If you’ve never invited the holy spirit to be active in your life, I will give you the opportunity in a few minutes.Ephesians 4:16 TPT – And I pray that he would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favour until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power.Also, get practical help: if your marriage needs help, get some counselling. If your parenting needs some help, talk to a parent who inspires you or read a book. Asking for help is a superpower, not a weakness.Expect greatness, BUT….We should absolutely set high expectations when we are crafting a family vision and setting goals for our futureOur family is worth the fight, remember?Our freedom to build an inspirational family has been won at a great price by Jesus himself. We are included as members of God’s own household, so why would we expect anything but greatness as we build?Ephesians 4:1-2 TPT – I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another, especially toward those who may try your patience.Extend graceGreatness is wonderful to aspire to, but we must always remember we will never achieve perfectionEphesians 2:7-9 TPT – Throughout the coming ages we will be the visible display of the infinite, limitless riches of his grace and kindness, which was showered upon us in Jesus Christ. For it was only through this wonderful grace that we believed in him. Nothing we did could ever earn this salvation, for it was the gracious gift from God that brought us to Christ! So no one will ever be able to boast, for salvation is never a reward for good works or human striving.Take a load off if you feel like you’re failing to achieve your goals or vision! Of course, keep being consistent and following through and maintaining high expectations, but remember to apply grace also when those expectations aren’t met, either by YOURSELF, your partner, your kids, your parents, your siblings, whoever you’re in family relationship withFamily goals need to be SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based)Bank the winsLife is no fun if we’re always reaching toward the next (our vision and goals) and never celebrating what’s beenTake the parenting win and give yourself a pat on the backTake the partnering win and show each other some gratitude for small steps toward the greater goalEphesians 3:20 TPT – Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination!
