As humans, we love to gain self confidence and even boast in our achievements, merits, and résumé. The apostle Paul reminds us that, unfortunately, our human/earthly résumé is as good as garbage when it comes to its value or ability to earn us eternal life...in fact, many of those things that we boast in are the very things that compete to keep our hearts from fully surrendering to the Lord.
