Listen "Wall Street"
Episode Synopsis
This week we review the 1987 American crime drama film Wall Street, directed and co-written by Oliver Stone, which stars Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, Daryl Hannah, and Martin Sheen.
The film tells the story of Bud Fox (C. Sheen), a young stockbroker who becomes involved with Gordon Gekko (Douglas), a wealthy, unscrupulous corporate raider.
Stone made the film as a tribute to his father, Lou Stone, a stockbroker during the Great Depression.
This is one of the 6 films the Aussie has watched on repeat. Gordon Gekko is a character he relates to and - dare we say - wants to be.
We talk capitalism and socialism and when we try to discuss 'general stuff' it all gets too hard for the Aussie.
The Scotsman surprises the Aussie by admitting he 'had not seen it' and that takes him by surprise.
"How do you judge someones success?" "Does money motivate you?" "at what point will you be content in life". Just some of the hard hitting questions we discuss.
The compliment the Aussie receives at the start of the podcast is slowly ripped apart as the podcast goes on. He lays it on the line here - wears his heart on his sleeve and tells us how he really feels.
It is a raw and honest podcast and it gets a little heated towards the end.
