Hoy 19 de junio se conmemora a los Pacientes con Anemia Falciforme por una resolución de la ONU emitida en el 2008. Confieso que yo me enteré de esta fecha importante hace poco menos de 5 años. Y a pesar de eso, no ha sido marcada en mi calendario. De hecho fue totalmente fortuito que haya podido hacer este video a tiempo. ¿Por qué? En definitiva no me enteré de la campaña por alguna difusión en LATAM para darle visibilidad a esta condición, sino por una publicación de una hematóloga que habla mucho del caso.
Leí e investigué un poco más del tema -fuentes abajo ⬇️ del post- pero no entendí muy bien porqué se escogió la fecha. Sin embargo en EEUU, países de África y en Brasil es una fecha importante para las fundaciones e instituciones que se organizan para educar a los demás sobre este tipo de enfermedades.
Hace algunos años atrás, me topé con un grupo de pacientes que tenían un grupo de apoyo e hicimos un video para las redes sociales, yo todavía no hacía videos, y me daba mucha vergüenza hablar del tema.
Pero aquí mismo en la Blockchain de Hive hay más de un usuario con esta condición y lo sé por la etiqueta de sickle cell. Un abrazo para todos ustedes. Sé que vinimos al mundo a dejar huellas con nuestra historia de vida tan compleja. 🥺🫂

Today, June 19th, we commemorate Sickle Cell Patients, as declared by a UN resolution issued in 2008. I must confess, I only learned about this important date a little less than five years ago. And even so, it hasn’t been marked on my calendar. In fact, it was completely by chance that I managed to make this video on time. Why? Because I didn’t find out about this day through any awareness campaign in LATAM, but rather through a post by a hematologist who frequently talks about the condition.
I read and researched a bit more about it – sources below ⬇️ the post – but I didn’t fully understand why this date was chosen. However, in the US, African countries, and Brazil, it’s an important date for foundations and institutions that work to educate others about this type of disease.
A few years ago, I came across a group of patients who had a support group, and we made a video for social media. Back then, I wasn’t making videos yet, and I was very embarrassed to talk about the topic.
