Listen "Our Unforming with Dr. Cindy Lee"
Episode Synopsis
Today's episode is a conversation with Dr Cindy Lee, a spiritual director, professor, mystic, and author of Our Unforming: De-Westernizing Spiritual Formation. In her book, Dr Lee untangles the limits of a spirituality developed and understood by and through one single cultural lens. The cultural lens of the West has dominated the language and practice of faith, especially in the US - and her book is an effort to identify a more robust spirituality for our times - one the embraces the diversity of cultures, practices, and worldviews. In this episode, we talk about the marks of Western spiritual formation, how its dominance has impacted our relationship with the neighborhood, and the gifts of spiritual direction. Stepping beyond the walls of our churches, into the neighborhoods where God has called us, will challenge our notions of how our faith and practice is formed and embodied. So, I hope you enjoy this conversation about the many possibilities with Dr. Cindy Lee. www.nicholastangen.com
