Episode Synopsis

My podcast explores the effects of climate change on the water availability in Jordan. I note the
implications for Jordan’s agricultural sector and ways in which the Jordanian government frames the
discussion of climate change—seeking to establish better water management rather than combating the
underlying causes of climate change. A major takeaway from the research from this podcast is that largely
underdeveloped countries like Jordan in particularly vulnerable arid locations are enduring many of the
consequences of climate change that have yet to catch up with industrialized nations (like the problem of
water scarcity due to rising temperatures). At the end of the podcast, I comment on how this burden of
climate change may be disproportionately affecting those nations with no resources to manage it and no
means to help solve the crisis
