Listen "Food Deserts"
Episode Synopsis
For most of us, access to fresh, healthy food isn’t something we have to think about--much less worry about. If you own a car or can afford a food delivery service, you’re set. But for many low-income Hoosiers, a walk to the nearest grocery store can be a very long walk.
Areas known as food deserts have been getting a lot of attention in the last few years. And there are many well-meaning solutions that might not address the root problem.
Today on All IN, host Matt Pelsor digs into the factors that define a food desert, talks to experts studying the problem, and checks in with farmers and entrepreneurs who are working to find solutions.
