Episode Synopsis

As we continue to speak with Tricia, she continues to describe a church that was not upfront with her about their history or affiliation.  Tricia doesn’t remember seeing red flags that were obvious to her.  However, she states that she felt restricted, but still joined nonetheless.  Tricia was never required to attend a Sunday Service while she was studying the bible.  It wasn’t until after getting baptized that the full commitment to the organization become clear to her.  During her indoctrination process, attendance was encouraged.  This changed because upon becoming a member, attendance was required.  Tricia mentions that the ICOC as an organization was flagged on her campus at the University of Kentucky.  Perhaps, that is why they used methods that were more covert as they recruited new members.  Despite the subtle differences, Tricia’s account of her experience sounds similar to the experiences of those that have already spoken on this podcast.  The church has always had these methods of molding people and causing them to question their own instincts and intuitions.  Tricia’s account helps to support such a claim.  Support the showStay updated on Aldo's current and future projects by signing up for his NewsletterOther Podcasts by Aldo B.
