Episode Synopsis

Stories of the Bible, Podcast 3, “The Creation Pt 2.”We shall begin our Podcast today with the 3rd Day of Creation. Genesis 1:9“And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.The phrase, “And God said,” appears nine times in Chapter One. Language is used economically; therefore, every word counts. In the above “And God said let the waters…” appears to be a command to someone who is also involved in the creation. We need to assume from the language that the creation is a very complex process involving more than one individual. In addition, implicit in the creation story is that the elements of the earth already exist. They are being reorganized. It is even implied in the first two days of creation that earth was once a living planet but now dead or as Genesis said, “without form and void,” and is being brought back to life. It appears to have been a dead planet floating in space. If that is true, then it explains dinosaurs and other fossil forms on earth prior to Adam and Eve. We know from science that space is not empty. The former planet from which the earth was created would have been under the gravitational pull of a larger body, but it received no sunlight.  The first thing God does is to provide a working solar system: “Let there be light: and there was light.”  On day three water and land are divided. Genesis reveals the order of creation but gives little else. Science knows that there are laws of creation, but they don’t know where those laws come from. The following prevailing opinions of science and philosophy are neither informative nor satisfying:·      Laws exist because they are compatible with existence·      Laws emerge from deeper principles·      Laws evolved·      Laws are compatible with life·      Quantum fluctuation·      Laws emerged due to some cosmic entropy·      The Universe is self-learningClearly scientists are clueless where laws come from; and, as with the creation theory, they will say anything to avoid admitting to intelligent design. In the next verse God gives a name to the creation.Genesis 1:10 “And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.”We should also not overlook the other refrain, “and God saw that it was good.” The clause is repeated seven times in Chapter One of the Creation Story. The first six times use the same wording, one for each day of creation. The seventh time it is used, the wording is changed significantly as we shall see.It doesn’t just mean ‘good job.’ It means completed or finished. Also, who is the referent of the word God. Is it the Father or the Son? The answer is both? We know from the Bible that Christ the creator works under the direction of the father. We also know from the New Testament that Christ never did anything except that which was commanded by the Father. Christ was perfect because he obeyed every command of the Father perfectly. Is it the Father who said, “it was good.” Is he the inspector? One thing is certain, the Son does not move to the next phase until the first phase has been inspected and approved. It is worthy to note here that there has always been a division of labor between the Father and the Son. It is imperative that Christians understand the role of the Father in our lives and the role of the son in our lives. For example, The Lord’s Prayer teaches us that we pray to the Father. The New Testament also teaches us emphatically that we must always pray to the Father in the name of the Son, another division of labor.
