We are so excited to share doc2doc's first interview with our listeners! Dr. Larry Cohen is a retired emergency room physician who has been teaching and practicing Lifestyle Medicine for over 20 years. He is board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine. He runs the Colorado Springs, CO chapter of "Walk with a Doc". This group meets weekly to help individuals learn how to incorporate Lifestyle Medicine into their daily lives. Larry Cohen, MD Bio
Dr. Cohen is a residency trained, board certified physician in emergency medicine practicing emergency medicine over 30 years, last 19 at UC Health, memorial hospital in Colorado Springs. Was in US Air Force 8 years, last 2 at US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs then worked in Texas as a staff emergency physician helping start up a new Emergency medicine group in Amarillo and was EMS director for the Texas Panhandle before returning to Colorado in 2003. Board certified in Lifestyle Medicine since 2017, the first year of board certification in LM. Prior fast food junkie and cardiac patient. Didn't start a healthy lifestyle, including exercise until he was 45. Has a compassion for healthy living and teaching about lifestyle medicine and helping people learn their genes are not their destiny and they can not only prevent but actually arrest and even reverse many chronic diseases with simple lifestyle changes. Leads Walk With a Doc session every Sunday, to educate and motivate people to get moving towards better health. He has never received any remuneration for any of his Lifestyle medicine activities.
