Listen "Tameka Mitchell: Trusting Big Ideas: Overcoming Fear, Strengthening Marriage, and Rediscovering Yourself /Ep3614"
Episode Synopsis
Tameka Mitchell is a motivator, entrepreneur, author, slayer of imposter syndrome, and, most importantly, a MOM. Her love of storytelling and dedication to children's literacy inspired her to build a legacy of writing books that encourage children to be fearless and believe in themselves. As the owner of Maternity Motivation Publishing, LLC, Tameka hopes to motivate mothers and create stories and visuals that would have connected with her as a child and will inspire her own children. Her focus is to produce content that is a tribute to people of color with vibrant, simple messages that encourage family and community conversations. As a devoted wife and mother of two beautiful children, Tameka's own personal experiences have fueled her passion for maternal health and the postpartum period, especially as it relates to Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs). As a fierce advocate and speaker, her primary focus is to engage, educate, and provoke conversations within the community about PMAD. Tameka aims to empower and uplift individuals navigating similar experiences, offering solace and encouragement during moments of isolation. Education is a pivotal aspect of Tameka's role. She is dedicated to circulating information from global and national organizations, raising awareness about PMAD, and striving to debunk misconceptions and destigmatize mental health struggles during the perinatal period. Armed with knowledge, Tameka believes that individuals are better equipped to recognize symptoms, seek support, and confidently embark on the path to healing. As a passionate advocate and speaker, Tameka is committed to amplifying the voices of those affected by PMAD, advocating for improved access to mental health resources, and fostering a more supportive and inclusive environment for individuals facing these challenges. By leveraging platforms and facilitating community conversations, Tameka aims to effect tangible change and dismantle barriers to care. She particularly focuses on addressing disparities in her own community, especially among Black and Brown women.
