Listen "The Esau Syndrome: What Satisfies Your Appetite?"

Episode Synopsis

The Esau syndrome is trading God’s lifelong gift to satisfy a short-term appetite. In other words, we can learn how to live in a way now that creates fewer future regrets. When Esau traded his God-given birthright for a bowl of stew, it shows us the power of appetite. An appetite is an instinctive desire to satisfy a craving. Esau’s appetite was satisfied for a moment but he regretted his decision in the end because he didn’t value the gift from God. Are you controlling your appetite or is your appetite controlling you? Have you identified and valued what God has given you? We have an appetite for all kinds of things like food, sex, money, influence, and more. The Bible shows us how to take control of our desires by first taking delight in the Lord. Psalms 37:4 says "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” If we value what God has given us, then we will not trade it away to satisfy a short-term appetite. What satisfies your appetite?
