Episode Synopsis

When the Lord placed on my heart a desire to write, I had to admit to being greatly intimidated. If it weren't for my husband, who encouraged me that even the greatest writers were rejected, I may have missed out on a beautiful opportunity. Stephen King was rejected thirty times, which led him to throw a manuscript into the trash. His wife subsequently found it and resubmitted it to a publisher. Many authors struggle with perfectionism. J.R.R. Tolkien never truly considered his work finished or perfect, which often led to delays and revisions. Before Sunday's launch, we walked through at least three proofreads, two edits, and one final read. The manuscript was complete, right? Or was it? Well, even George R.R. Martin is known for having typos in his works. I guess I'm in good company. Guess who else incurred a few errors?A beautiful friend whom I love dearly texted me on Tuesday and said, "I hate to do this, but I have found a couple of errors." Of course, my heart sank. And then I opened the manuscript and found these errors, in addition to several pages where my page numbering was off.I was aghast and embarrassed! My old nemesis, Imposter Syndrome, arose and declared, "And you think you're a writer?!" It would be the gentle voice of the Lord that drew me out of my pity party with, "Eve, is it My glory or your own that you desire?""But, God, if I submit something sub-par, people might not read it. If they don't read it, then they won't see You in it," I naively responded."And you think your errors will stop me from writing My Word on their heart? It is My Word that we are leading them too, right?"OUCH! I didn't need further correction. I promptly made the corrections and resubmitted. (That is the beauty of being an Indie author.) I don't know what you're working on or considering working on today. If there is any intimidation in your heart, allow me to encourage you with this:You are in good company. Even the greatest faced their lowest moments—but they still took that first step into their own Jordan River and moved forward. When they stumbled, they got back up, adjusted course, and kept going. So shall I.If you have honored me by purchasing a flawed copy. Hold it in your hands knowing that a flawed human being wrote it and it is God Who will get the glory, not me. Send me an email with a picture of the error, and you'll receive a gift.Today's FREEmium is a collection of iPhone wallpapers to remind you that the Lord is with you.
