Listen "Level Up"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode Mandy and Stephanie talk career advancement: leveling up and pivoting over. They discuss the importance of being intentional with your career, the ridiculous scrutiny of ambitious women, and that tricky little feeling of imposter syndrome.
The guest on the show, Carmen Moreno-Rivera, is the President of Facilities Management Services, pbc in Louisville, KY, the largest, locally owned janitorial service provider in Kentucky. Carmen has over 18 years of unique management experience in areas such as transportation, logistics, aviation, and government. Her broad scope of work includes strategic planning, performance management, continuous improvement, systems design, talent acquisition, and equity and inclusion in the workplace. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s in Management. Currently, Carmen is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Leadership.
“I've done a lot of work understanding when I’m off and how to get back into alignment. Understanding that…my values are guiding me, the impact - if I don't feel that’s there, then the true problem solving begins. I need to understand what to do to get that back. If it was there before, then can I get it back.”
From this episode’s conversation, you will hear:
● Tools for strategic networking
● How to gauge when it’s time to climb laterally or pivot
● Why it is so important to be intentional with your career
Don’t miss our ONE THING TO TRY and WHAT YOU GOT IN THAT BAG prompts at the end! (Hint: be intentional with that battery-life!)
