Episode Synopsis

Welcome to Lessons From the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will taking a look at Psalm 11. Psalm is a psalm of trust. It is found right in the middle of three psalms of lament - psalms 9 & 10 (which I had mentioned were originally one longer psalm) and psalm 12, which we will be taking a look at shortly. I read a brief commentary found in my Nelson Study Bible. This short prayer is broken down into three portions: verses 1-3- an affirmation of trust in the Lord even during the assaults of the wicked; verses 4-6 - an affirmation of trust in the Lord who reigns above and who will judge the actions of the wicked; and verse 7 - an affirmation of trust in the Lord because of who He is. Friends, our current world is attacking Christians (and making fun of them) more than at any other time in the history of our country. They are trying to take God (and thus the Bible) out of every aspect of our lives. We, as Christians need to stay strong in the face of this persecution. If you are familiar with the Bible we know that, in the end, we (as Christians) will win. At times, we can become discourages - when we see some of the things going on in our country, but we can take solace in the fact that we know that God is still in control and will eventually bring judgement on those coming against us.
