Growing up around a sport, you learn from the atmosphere, the leaders, and the culture, and you may be able to live a dream to not only serve the country but also be a contender for their boxing division. We sit down with former Nebraska Prep from Omaha South High School Jeremiah Perales, now a Corporal in the Army and a contender for their World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) as a boxer at the 125 lbs division. We talk about his journey with his father, Servando Perales, who opened up Victory Boxing Club and Community Center in South Omaha and used this as his outlet to show his sons how to be better fathers, sons, brothers, and eventually grown men—giving back to a sport that teaches a solid mental and composure balance with the ability to open up and compete at a high level. One of the biggest goals is going from Golden Gloves Champ to the Opportunity to compete at the Olympics one day, which Jeremiah is in contention.
