It was great to get the chance to talk to my friend, Joe Kavanagh the Lord Mayor of Cork City, 100 years after the Burning of Cork. We chat about his life and career, the motivation that drives him to get things done in his community, the machinery of local and national politics, his perspective of our city, his role as Lord Mayor, and his opinion about a directly elected Mayor.
