Lauren LaVera and David Howard Thornton are at their best ever. Thornton's ability to transform Art into a humorous, vaudeville-style mime who is always performing parts is fascinating. However, he also successfully conveys the graphic brutality and Art's capacity to shed his cheerful front and show a demon of a man beneath. Lauren LaVera keeps establishing herself as this generation's iconic last girl. In their final battle, she unleashes a level of violence that will make for some incredible fan-made posters. She is the key ingredient in these films that raises them above the simple thrills of the first one. The new Victoria seems to be the embodiment of pure evil. Even tons of horrifying makeup cannot hide the unsettling body language that Scaffidi brings to the part.
