Listen "Clinging to Christ through College Sports, a Pandemic and Unexpected Retirement ft Zoe Schweitzer"
Episode Synopsis
TW: Eating disorders, disordered eating, diet culture, body image
Zoe Schweitzer is well beyond her years when it comes to her spiritual, emotional and overall maturity. When a medical condition led her into an early, unexpected medical retirement from gymnastics, she had to fight hard to remain steady in her identity with God while her identity as a gymnast was stripped from her. Zoe is part of the age group that went through the depths of the pandemic while in college and on top of that, was a college athlete during that time trying to still adjust and compete. Beyond the hardships we all faced during that time, Zoe also battled and overcame the body image insecurities that so many gymnasts and young women face. She is proof you can battle those insecurities and come out stronger.
Zoe is so steadfast in her walk with Jesus and is turning a corner in a new chapter of her life. Her clarity on God's plan will inspire not just all of the young women around her, but her peers as well. As someone 10 years older than her, I am deeply inspired by her and know that God is about to use her in a big way. Her story is one you don't want to miss.
