Episode Synopsis

Welcome to the When Dreams and Action Collide Podcast! I'm your host, Joy Lanae, your productivity powerhouse. Today, we're diving into the art of creating a vision board.
In my episode on Setting Goals for the Next 6 Months (Episode 3), I touched on this briefly, but today, I want to go in-depth on how I create my vision boards—especially what I've done this year. You might wonder if having a vision board is really necessary for your goals. My answer is a resounding yes! Without a vision board, or even just a picture or word symbolizing my goal, I've found it hard to stay on track. Most successful people use some form of a vision board to visualise what they want to achieve.
I believe visualising your goals is key to staying focused and achieving them. Seeing your goals engages your senses and keeps you motivated. Let’s recap how I set my goals. I focus on seven key areas:
Spiritual Life
Marriage & Family
Health
Work/Finances
Church/Community
Relationships/Friendships
Recreation/Hobbies

In the past, my goals were vague, but now I have a clear overall mission and specific goals for each area.
When creating a vision board, I choose pictures that represent both my goals and habits. I use digital tools like Canva to create collages for each area of my life and print them out. You can also use magazines, draw, or create a physical board—whatever works best for you.
My vision board is in a book format, allowing me to view it anywhere. You might prefer a board in your office or room. The key is to make it physical and look at it daily.
I've also put together a simple resource on creating a vision board, available via the link in the show notes. Here's a quick recap on how to create one:
Choose an area (e.g., family, health).
Outline your goal with a couple of dot points or a short statement.
List the habits needed to achieve the goal (no more than 2-3 habits to avoid overwhelm).
Choose your format (poster board, vision book, etc.)—make it physical.
Capture and assemble pictures or words.
