Listen "Visible light"
Episode Synopsis
In today's episode Lindy and I talk about physical sight. We can only see 0.035 % of all the light that exists.I ask whether we can trust our sight at all, is there is more that we can't see than what we can see. We talk about the subjective differences there is in sight, including a condition that allows for increased colour vision called tetrachromacy. It's easy to wish for extra vision and the ability to see ultraviolet light, but if we could see all light, we wouldn't be able to appreciate darkness. For example, the night sky would be washed with light from all the stars and planets. We would see all the radiation from the technology we use. We would be bombarded by light. So maybe seeing 0.035% isn't so bad. Perhaps we don't need to see all the light there is. We're talking about vision, information, infinity and light. We hope you enjoy it.Feel free to drop any thoughts/questions at: [email protected] Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
