Listen "Celebrating Ramadan safely during the COVID-19 pandemic"
Episode Synopsis
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is underway; and while this is a month-long fasting holiday during the day, it’s also a time of “iftar” or gathering to break the fast, at sunset. So what happens in a pandemic? KYW Newsradio’s Hadas Kuznits speaks with Salima Suswell, a member of the mayor’s Commission on faith based and interfaith affairs, and founder and executive director of the Philadelphia Ramadan and Eid fund about this year’s smaller gatherings, what food says about the diversity of Muslims in Philadelphia and how the community is giving back to help fight hunger throughout the month of Ramadan.
