For her birthday, she hosted a pre-colonial summit between the Kingdom of Magadh (her home region in India) and the Kingdom of Luganda (Uganda), complete with ocean-crossing caravans, and full regalia. “I’m tired of this mercantile relationship between India and Africa,” she told me. “I want romance, I want culture, I want drama.” And honestly?
