I went down the rabbit hole of making a Max for Live device to allow a pulse wave to modulate the signal over a given interval with a percentage of silence. The device also incorporates a model of a vactrol to slightly ramp the pulse wave to prevent clicking.

I automated the percentage of silence between 60% and 100%. Drone and melody both provided by Arturia Pigments.
