Episode Synopsis

Irish Scripture Scholar continues the reflection on Chapter 17 of the Book of Revelation. St. John gives us a picture of the great harlot who rules enthroned beside the abundant water; this is a literal description of Babylon at the time of Nebuchadnezzar - a land that is flourishing. The harlot can lead everybody into apostasy when we adopt the ways of the world.

The harlot lives in the desert and in the Bible, this is the place where demons abide. She is seen riding a scarlet beast with 7 heads and 10 horns. She is dressed in robes of royalty and immorality and covered with the riches of the world. She holds a wine cup that represents her sins and is identified as Babylon. The angel reveals to St. John the punishment of the harlot that is Babylon and the beast.

At this point, we are asked: Whom do we serve? This is our choice and we must face the consequences of our choice.
