Episode Synopsis

So this mix is actually live feed from a party I throw in East Atlanta called ‘Fat Puss’. It’s in a bar called Mary’s. Mary’s is a long standing queer that is located in East Atlanta Village. East Atlanta Village is the local hub for the neighborhood’s local bar and music scene. I started throwing this party 2 years ago as a spoof circuit party. I’d been working at Mary’s as a resident DJ for some time at that point and I was still trying to figure what my monthly programing was going to look like. From theme nights to bdsm parties, I tried everything. I softly gave up and wanted to just DJ all of my favorite house, techno and pop edits, so I decided to throw a party with my name on it describing that exact situation. Fat Puss was my last ditch effort to make something stick and it stuck! The first night I threw it there was a line down the block of beautiful queer people. Not just gay men or lesbian women, beautiful queer people in line to dance to my favorite music (dream come true). Since then, I’ve been throwing this party every month and its slowly becoming a staple in Atlanta’s queer nightlife scene. This specific mix is from Labor Day, a weekend Atlanta spends celebrating Black Gay pride and Atlanta’s cultural institution “House in the park”! So I was feeling particularly house-y and groovy. The party typically goes from 10pm-2:30am with a curated local headliner (local legend JAGU4R of Malware Cafe was blessing us this specific evening) that plays around peak time for an hour. All other hours are spent with me warming up the room/closing the room to get them dancing. This mix is from the first hour of the party and I decided to record because the room was oddly packed and filled with different kinds of people. There were gays running around the space, ladies flirting with each other at both bars, and older queer folk taking in the room in different areas. They all started dancing at the first hour, which is almost rare but not surprising. This was fun for me because I started playing music for each person in the room and had the room full by the time the headliner got there. This is one hour of a three hour mix of hits and sexy motifs! I hope you enjoy this small feed of whats happening in Atlanta’s queer night life scene.
