El calipso llegó a Venezuela gracias a los migrantes, es un género musical originario de Trinidad y Tobago. Cuenta la historia que su origen viene de los primeros esclavos africanos que laboraban en las plantaciones de caña de azúcar de la Isla de Trinidad y Tobago; una vez separados las familias muchas fueron llevadas a las costas caribeñas centroamericanas y con estas, llevaron muchas tradiciones nuevas, que más tarde fueron asumidas como formas propias de cultura.
La presentación que hoy comparto con ustedes fue realizada para la Feria de las culturas en Mallorca, en su introducción jugamos a dramatizar la realidad venezolana para finalmente dar paso al rico calipso que bailamos con mucho gusto.


Calypso arrived in Venezuela thanks to migrants; it is a musical genre originating in Trinidad and Tobago. The story goes that its origin comes from the first African slaves who worked in the sugar cane plantations of the island of Trinidad and Tobago; once the families were separated many were taken to the Caribbean coasts of Central America and with them, they brought many new traditions, which were later assumed as their own forms of culture.
The presentation that I share with you today was made for the Fair of cultures in Mallorca, in its introduction we played to dramatize the Venezuelan reality to finally give way to the rich calypso that we danced with pleasure.
