Episode Synopsis

In this episode, we head to Guatemala, where an innovative partnership between Wuqu’ Kawoq (the Maya Health Alliance), UCSF and Stanford University, are developing digital and social media messaging for indigenous rural communities in local Mayan languages. The project - funded by the Vaccine Confidence Fund, part of the Alliance for Advancing Health Online - provides some useful lessons learned for vaccine implementers looking to find ways of reaching marginalized communities with messaging that is appropriate to their needs - and that can be communicated in different local languages.Panelists:Nadia Diamond-Smith, UCSFMonica Berger Gonzales, University of the Valley of GuatemalaEmily Lopez, Maya Health AllianceAnne Kraemer, Maya Health AllianceLucia Abascal, UCSFJaime Johnston, Digital Medic Stanford UniversityBen Plumley, HunuvatLinkedIn:Bay Area Global Health Alliance: @GlobalHealthAllSabin Vaccine Institute @sabinvaccinewww.vaxuppodcast.comwww.sabin.org www.ucsf.eduwww.digitalmedic.stanford.eduwww.wukukawoq.org#VaxUpPodcast #vaxup #BayAreaGlobalHealthAlliance #SabinVaccineInstitute #Vaccine #VaccineTrust #VaccineConfidence #AllianceForAdvancingHealthOnline #WuquKawoq #UCSF #DigitalMedic #StanfordUniversity Hosted on Acast.
