There was a man whose faith amazed Jesus. Do you know who it was? A Roman centurion. He said to Jesus, “I do not deserve to have you come under my roof, but just say the word and my servant will be healed” (Matthew 8:8). Faith recognizes its unworthiness. Jesus shouldn’t set foot in our houses. We don’t deserve it. This is why we start every service by confessing our sins. Yet, faith trusts in Jesus’ kindness and grace. He died for us! He took our sins to the cross. Jesus is good. Jesus is forgiving. Jesus is gracious. Even when we can’t see it. Faith doesn’t need to see it to believe it. Jesus’ promises are enough.
