Listen "iTalk #43 : Smile to Live Longer"
Episode Synopsis
Are you feeling stressed? Just Smile !
#Smile to reduce #stress and #boost your chances of living longer!
Recently, while studying human #behavior, I discovered a fascinating #study where American scientists analyzed an old photo of baseball #players. Those who smiled in the photo lived longer! The #bigsmilers lived an average of 79.9 years, #partialsmilers 75 years, and #nonsmilers 72.9 years. Smiling players lived 7 years longer than their #straightfaced counterparts, showcasing the powerful link between a #cheerful grin and a longer #lifespan. *Medically reviewed by Colgate Global Scientific Communications
The fact is, when we #laugh and smile, our bodies release #endorphins, natural #stress and #pain relievers, reducing cortisol's (Cortisol helps the body respond to physical or #emotional stress by increasing blood sugar levels, suppressing the immune system, and aiding in fat, protein, and carbohydrate metabolism) effects. That's why #cheerful people appear less stressed and #healthier.
Research from the British Dental Health Foundation showed that the act of smiling can actually make you feel and act happier. Dr. Nigel Carter, the foundation's CEO, said, "We have long been drawing attention to the fact that smiling increases happiness both in yourself and those around you, so it is good to receive the backing of this scientific research. A healthy smile can improve your #confidence, help you make friends and help you to succeed in your #career.
I #Practice it, you too can do...
In my #InductionTraining Programs, I ask participants to introduce themselves uniquely, sharing their Name, Role, and Overall Experience, plus something #special starting with the first letter of their name. I set the example by sharing that my name is Sanjeev, starting with S, and my #unique attribute is my Smile. No matter the #challenge, I never let my smile fade, and it has greatly benefited my #personal and #professional life.
Apart from this "Smile Contest", this exercise of asking participants to introduce themselves helps them #discover something new about themselves and feel good about it! They realize they have so much more to offer beyond their name and role.
Try this unique introduction method in your #coaching #training #workshops - participants will love it!
You can share your Unique Attribute in the Comment Box too!
Let's keep smiling and spreading positivity!
P.S. : Few people say I smiles a lot in my videos too, now you know why !
