Renunciation of nationality — Dr. Zeynep Devrim Gürsel, Professor of Anthropology at Rutgers University, analyzes photography as a tool of governmentality. These photos of Armenian emigres, usually taken by Armenian photographers, became an early mode of border surveillance technology.
