Listen "Why are you here? - Audio"
Episode Synopsis
The “celebration” of Ash Wednesday is actually the beginning of a fast, the fast of Lent. Throughout the Bible, God’s
faithful people would memorialize a time when they saw that they had to turn around and repent (the word “repent” literally means to turn around). It was a time of recognizing where one had lost their way and needed to get back to God. Of course, we don’t get back to God, God gets back to us by giving us His Son to die on the Cross for our sins. This Ash Wednesday and all of Lent are about repenting, turning around and seeing that Jesus and His Cross are right there to forgive us of our sins.
