Listen "Hadean Podcast #27 - The Black Raven - Cummins & Johnson"
Episode Synopsis
This month we welcome back both Brian Johnson and Alexander Cummins who come to us today as a wonderful necromantic team to elucidate their most recent contribution, ‘The Black Raven - A Study in the Folk Necromancy of Early Modern Germany’, a translation of a fantastically practical grimoiric manual of Faustian ghost laying and treasure hunting. In this episode we discuss the origins and influences of this manuscript, its modularity and the nature of the larger ecology of spirit which surrounds it and its related texts. We explore the nature of the Stammgeist as a local haunting spirit, the manner in which people would interact with buried treasures, earth-spirits, paper circles, and the practical necessities of working this form of folk necromancy.
