Listen "Seeing Mental Health Clearly"
Episode Synopsis
Do you see your life clearly? Do you let others see you, really see YOU? Do you see that others care and will help you?
Unfortunately, the stigma that surrounds mental illness makes it difficult for many people to feel comfortable opening up about how they feel, what their struggles are and how tough their day might be going.
We must break that stigma so that EVERYONE with a mental illness feels comfortable talking about it and so that most importantly, they seek help and find hope to keep going.
This week's conversation might be difficult for some of you to hear because my guest Nina Judge and I will be talking about mental illness and suicide. Nina bravely shares the story of her father John's passing to suicide in 2021. And she provides us with hope through the work that she is doing through the nonprofit John Malvizzi Foundation, named after her father. Check out the website by clicking on the foundation name above; learn how to donate; offer help; or join their team for the Out of the Darkness Walk in Wilkes-Barre on 9/10.
While this is a serious conversation, there is light. I encourage you to listen and share your light with others so they know that they are not alone. And if you or anyone you know needs help, please remember that you can call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline; visit the website for more information.
Thank you for listening.
I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart and the bottom of my wine glass.
