Listen "76: City of God (2002) and Gomorrah (2008)"
Episode Synopsis
Text Matt & Adam!Growing up in crime is the theme for this week. The body counts are high in both our films. Brazil's "City of God" (2002) is the story of gangs in the slums of Rio de Janeiro and has the highest IMBD score of any film we reviewed on the show. Both M&A thought it was fantastic, but the violence can be a bit overwhelming. Italy's "Gomorrah" (2008) won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes, but both felt compared to "City of God", it falls a little flat. M&A felt it was too ambitious and some the story lines should have been eliminated. Trips gone bad is our next theme with "Thelma and Louise" (1991) and "Calibre" (2018).Recommendations?
