Listen "Sparkling Wine from Italy : Franciacorta Region"
Episode Synopsis
Although many people believe that Prosecco is Italy’s answer to Champagne, this is not actually the case, since Prosecco is not produced via Method Champenoise. It is in the Lombardy Region, within Franciacorta, that Method Champenoise is applied with fermentation inside the bottle, to produce Italy’s alternative to Champagne. In fact during a blind tasting, many would equate Franciacorta with true Champagne due to the distinctive nose. David Kohl tastes a selection from Faccoli Vineyards, a family run estate where Claudio Faccoli has passed the reins on to daughter Francesca. #wine #sparklingwine #italianwine #franciacorta #methodchampenoise
