Listen "Pecorino : Italian White Wine from Abruzzo"
Episode Synopsis
David Kohl loves the white wines of Italy and was pleased to reconnect with the Pecorino white wine grape while judging in Chicago during Sommelier’s Choice Awards event. Pecorino grapes grow in Abruzzo region, along The Adriatic Sea and share a name with the better known Pecorino cheese, both of which have an affiliation with “Pecora” the Italian word for sheep. While Pecorino cheese is made from sheep milk, the Pecorino white wine grape has been known as a favorite snack of sheep grazing in local vineyards. Consumers looking for an Italian white wine more adventurous than a simple Pinot Grigio would be wise to seek out Pecorino varietals that retail in the value range of $15. #winepodcast #wine #italy #italianwine #abruzzo #pecorino #whitewine #sommelierschoiceawards
