The church has been raptured in chapter four and now there is a one world religion. The antichrist (the beast) is the political leader during the tribulation period, and the "false prophet" is the spiritual lea"der.  During the tribulation we will see the trinity - Satan the Dragon, Antichrist the Beast, and the False Prophet.  Just as the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity, the False Prophet is the third person of the unholy trinity.  Just as the Holy Spirit will focus attention on Jesus Christ, the False Prophet will focus the attention on the Antichrist.  He will take what is left of religion and form a singular unified one world religion.   It is called "Mystery Babylon the Great, The Mother of Harlots."
