Listen "Aquarium"
Episode Synopsis
KARAAL is the Italian duo of Giuliano Albanese and Vincenzo Cardinale, two producers with decades of experience in the electronic underground. Giuliano began his career as a DJ in the early 2000s, performing at iconic Ibiza venues such as Café del Mar and Pacha, while Vincenzo classically trained as a pianist with roots in jazz gravitated toward electronic experimentation early on. His tracks have been featured on compilations by M2o, a legendary Italian radio station known for shaping electronic music culture.
Now releasing their debut EP on Traum, KARAAL present three tracks that move between hypnotic techno, euphoric club energy and cinematic electronica.
The title track ”Vision“ opens the EP with a subtle melodic flow that initially echoes the minimal elegance of early Luciano (Cadenza), before evolving into a hybrid of emotional depth and collective euphoria something we haven’t heard in this particular intensity since Ron Flatter`s ”Mantequilla“ or Jønicht. Sweeping in its emotional scope yet carried by an effortless momentum, “Vision” doesn’t dictate the dancefloor it flows with it, merging dancer and track into one.
It’s followed by “Space” a shimmering, disco-infused house miniature like a futuristic operetta reimagined for the club.
Closing the EP is “Aquarium” a powerful and atmospheric electronica track. Built on broken beats and layered vocal fragments, it conjures an almost cinematic emotional weight, closing the release with depth and gravity.
