Listen "Ep. 40 - Giddeon Massie: Faith, a great work ethic, and amazing parents"

Episode Synopsis

Giddeon Massie was raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was introduced to the bike at 10. Racing soon followed. Massie ended up having the best of both worlds right at his doorstep. He had a world class velodrome to race and train on and world class athletes to compete and train with. Surprising enough Giddeon competed in road races, criteriums and even the team pursuit before he turned his attention to sprinting. By the time his junior career was finished he was ranked 5th in the world and had a couple of national championships under his belt. In 2003 he moved to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to become a permanent resident. Gideeon's career soon took off. He was a bronze and silver at the Pan American Games in Cuba. He began racing all over the world.  And he competed in two Olympics, 2004 in Athens and 2008 in Beijing. He says one of the funnest times competing was doing the six day circuit in Europe. With the national team looking for younger Massie saw the writing on the wall and it was time to move on. He would still race on the track but he was also doing some crits. He eventually landed in real estate and not long ago got married. We sat down for a chat about his career, parents, and life outside of cycling. Enjoy!
